AuctionGenie Changelog

What's new in AuctionGenie 4.2.3

Nov 16, 2012
  • A duration of 30 days can now be selected for a fixed-price auction.

New in AuctionGenie 4.2.2 (Sep 19, 2011)

  • In March 2011 eBay changed the format of the title for an item page. Since the title no longer includes the item number, the "Add New Auction from Browser" command cannot identify the item shown in the browser window so information about the item cannot be added to the eBay Bidding database. Use the "Add New Auction from ID" command instead and enter the ID number manually.
  • Added the ability to upload pictures using the SFTP protocol (with the Fetch client only). Check the "Use SFTP" box in the AuctionGenie Preferences panel to choose this method.
  • In the eBay Selling database, you can now specify titles and subtitles that are up to 80 characters in length.
  • In the eBay Selling database, refund options have been changed to "Money Back" and "Money Back or Refund".
  • In the eBay Selling database, the "returned within" options have changed to 14, 30, or 60 days.

New in AuctionGenie 4.2.1 (Jul 10, 2010)

  • Added a condition field to the eBay Selling database and an item condition browser to the AuctionGenie Panel. This is now a required field for eBay listings. Be sure to read the description of how to use this field in the revised documentation.
  • Internal changes to the way in which fixed-price items are posted.
  • Documentation updates.

New in AuctionGenie 4.2 (Sep 30, 2009)

  • Several fixes were made to solve problems caused by Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6).
  • "See item descripton" has been removed as a payment type option because it is no longer allowed by eBay.
  • Changes have been made to the documentation to reflect that Dutch auctions with competitive bidding are no longer supported by eBay. If you want to sell multiple identical items in a single listing, you must submit a fixed-price listing (where the Start Price is the same as the Buy It Now Price in the eBay Selling database).
  • The insurance fields in the eBay Selling database have been removed because eBay no longer supports insurance options in listings.
  • The Border and Featured Plus! options have been removed from the eBay Selling database because eBay no longer supports these features.
  • Fixed a problem caused by a recent change to the Safari browser which prevented the "Add New Auction from Browser" command from working. v4.1.5 (27-September-2008)
  • Changes were made to reflect the fact that eBay no longer allows payment by check or money order. Payments must be made by PayPal, ProPay, credit or debit card payment to a seller (through a seller's Internet merchant account), or payment upon pickup.
  • Changes were made in the Item Info panel in the Detail View of the eBay Selling database to allow you to specify handling time (now required by eBay).
  • Changes were made in the Item Info panel in the Detail View of the eBay Selling database for you to specify a returns policy (now required by eBay).
  • The Item Info panel in the Detail View of the eBay Selling database has been changed to reflect changes to the eBay gallery system. All items submitted to eBay now get a free gallery photo and the photo is always a scaled version of the first picture file specified in the eBay Selling database. As a result, the redundant Gallery File field has been removed. In addition, the Using Gallery? field has been removed and replaced with a checkbox indicating whether you want the Gallery Plus feature, which provides for a larger gallery picture. eBay charges a 35-cent fee if you use Gallery Plus.
  • Listing fees are now shown in a window after you click the Submit Auctions Not Yet Listed button in the AuctionGenie Panel. This gives you a chance to cancel the submission if the fees look unexpectedly high.

New in AuctionGenie 4.1.4 (Feb 21, 2008)

  • The selling database has been updated to reflect eBay's new fee structure which went into effect on February 20. Since there is no longer a charge for a Gallery picture, we recommend setting the value of Use Gallery? on the Defaults page in the eBay Selling database to "Yes".
  • Updated the default templates to reflect the recent reduction in the rate of GST to 5% by the Government of Canada.
  • AuctionGenie no longer lowers the start price of a new auction when it determines that doing so would maximize your net return when the item sells. This feature was removed because eBay has introduced category-specific listing fees; this makes it too difficult to perform the necessary calculation reliably.
  • In the eBay Selling database, the Insertion Fee and the expected eBay fee for an item which sells are now approximations only, based on eBay's standard insertion and final value fee schedules. For some categories -- currently Books, Music, DVDs & Movies, and Video Games -- the actual fees may be lower. For items already listed, go to the Seller Account area of your My eBay page and check your account activity to see the actual fees charged by eBay for listing and selling your items.
