  • The incompatibilities with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite have been fixed.
  • On Yosemite, the menu panel and the Application Wizard buttons in the menu bar have a new appearance.
  • On Yosemite, the menu panel has now a dark background when Dark Mode is turned on.
  • Icons in the Open, Quit, Switch, and Special menus have been revised.
  • Multiple selected applications in the Open and Quit menus are now marked with blue and red dots, respectively.

  • On Mac OS X 10.6 or later, the automatic showing and hiding of the menu panel has a lower energy impact now.

New in Application Wizard 3.4 (Oct 23, 2013)

  • The incompatibilities with Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks have been solved.
  • On Mac OS X 10.7 or later, the Background-only Applications item of the Quit menu has been replaced by the Background Processes item. In the Background Processes submenu, applications and services are separated.
  • On Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can now choose whether including or not including automatically terminated applications in your running applications or background processes. To hide automatically terminated applications, deselect the "Include automatically terminated applications" checkbox in the Menus pane.
  • On Mac OS X 10.8 or later, previews now have a Share submenu that lets you easily share photos, music, videos, and documents using iCloud, AirDrop, Facebook, Twitter, and other services.

New in Application Wizard 3.3.4 (May 24, 2013)

  • On Mac OS X 10.6 or later, the Recent Folders submenu of the Special menu lets you now browse the folders you have recently opened using the Finder. If you prefer not to show the Finder recent folders, choose "Hide Finder Folders" from the Recent Folders submenu.
  • The Background-only Applications submenu of the Quit menu now shows process identifiers so that you can distinguish multiple instances of a same process. If you prefer not to display process identifiers, choose "Hide Process ID" from the Background-only Applications submenu.
  • The clickable area of the Application Wizard buttons in the menu bar has been slightly increased.
  • A bug that could cause Application Wizard to quit unexpectedly when particular processes were launched has been fixed.

  • On Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later, the Contacts/Address Book submenu lets you now call phone numbers and send text messages with Skype, start FaceTime video calls, display maps showing the location of addresses, and copy map URLs.
  • On Mac OS X 10.7 or later, the Contacts/Address Book submenu supports social network profiles and new instant messaging services (Facebook, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, QQ, Skype).
  • On Mac OS X 10.8, the Contacts submenu lets you now start Messages conversations.

New in Application Wizard 3.2 (Dec 20, 2011)

  • Application Wizard lets you now run AppleScripts from the Open and Special menus. To run AppleScripts from the Open menu, add them to your groups or add AppleScript folders to the Open menu. To run AppleScripts from the Special menu, select them in the menu and choose Run Script.
  • Running applications can now be listed from the most recent one to the oldest one in the Quit and Switch menus. To list running applications chronologically, click the Customize Menus button in the Menus pane and select the "Sort running applications chronologically" checkbox in the Quit and Switch panes.
  • The Switch menu lets you now exclude applications that you never need to activate. To exclude an application from the Switch menu, click the Customize Menus button in the Menus pane, click Switch, and add the application to the excluded applications list.
  • A bug that could, under particular circumstances, cause Application Wizard to crash on Lion after System Preferences was opened or closed or specific system preferences were edited has been fixed.
  • Some other minor bugs have been fixed and some other minor improvements have been introduced.

New in Application Wizard 3.1 (Oct 27, 2011)

  • The incompatibilities with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion have been solved.
  • On Lion, Application Wizard lets you now disable or enable window restoration for specific applications. To edit window restoration settings, open the Resume pane of the Application Wizard preferences.
  • On Lion, you can now open applications without restoring their windows by holding the Command and Option keys while displaying the Open menu.
  • On Lion, you can now quit applications and close (or keep) their windows by holding the Command and Option keys while displaying the Quit menu.
  • On Lion, you can now show a confirmation message when choosing Restart, Shut Down, or Log Out from the Special menu. To show the confirmation message and specify whether restoring windows when you log back in, hold the Option key while displaying the Special menu.
  • On Lion, the Library item can now be added to the Special menu. In addition to that, you can quickly show the Library folder in the Home submenu by holding the Option key while displaying the Special menu.
  • The default keyboard shortcuts for the Open, Quit, Switch, and Special menus have been changed, so that now the default Quit menu shortcut doesn't conflict with Lion's "Quit and Close All Windows" shortcut (Command-Option-Q).
  • The iPhoto Library submenu has been revised and displays the new iPhoto monochrome icons.
  • An incompatibility with Mac OS X 10.6 that caused the menu panel to disappear after automatic graphics switching on 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pros has been fixed.

New in Application Wizard 3.0 (Jun 27, 2011)

  • The Application Wizard pane in System Preferences has been completely revised. The General, Groups, Applications, Menus, and Keyboard Shortcuts panes have been redesigned and most dialogs have been eliminated so that options are now easier to access and quicker to configure.
  • The Quit and Switch menus can now be fully customized by adding, removing, and rearranging items. In addition to that, the Open, Quit, Switch, and Special menus can now be edited all from the same multi-pane dialog.
  • Application Wizard lets you now restore the Open, Quit, Switch, and Special menus to default. To restore menus, click the Customize Menus button in the Menus pane, and choose Restore Default Menu from the menu's Action pop-up menu.
  • You can now open and quit groups using keyboard shortcuts. To assign a shortcut to a group, select the group in the Groups pane, enable the shortcut, choose an action, click the shortcut field, and press a key combination.
  • Application Wizard lets you now duplicate groups. To duplicate a group, select it in the Groups pane, click the Add button, and choose Duplicate Group. In addition to that, you can now quickly add all the open applications to a group by clicking the Add button and choosing Add Running Applications.
  • The Excluded Applications group has been eliminated. To exclude applications from the Quit menu or open excluded applications automatically at login, click the Quit tab in the Customize Menus dialog.
  • To quit all excluded applications you can now define a "Quit excluded applications" keyboard shortcut or add the Quit Excluded command to the Quit menu.
  • Application Wizard now fully supports iPhoto '11, fixes a bug that could cause photos not to be listed in the Photos submenu and solves some minor incompatibilities with previous iPhoto versions.
  • The Aperture Library submenu shows MobileMe, Flickr, and Facebook accounts and galleries correctly now.
  • Keyboard shortcuts containing function keys, arrow keys, or keypad keys now do not require modifiers anymore.
  • Several other minor improvements have been introduced and some minor bugs have been fixed.

New in Application Wizard 2.5.2 (Nov 23, 2010)

  • The Open menu can now list Dock applications in the same order as they appear in the Dock. To show applications (and separators) as they are sorted in the Dock, choose Sort in Dock Order from the Dock Applications submenu.
  • On Mac OS X 10.5 or later, the Special menu can now preview several new types of documents: web archives and HTML files, Word documents and templates (DOCX, DOCM, DOT, DOTX, DOTM files), and OpenDocument text files and templates (ODT, OTT files).
  • A bug that caused Application Wizard to crash after a disk was partitioned, repartitioned, or erased has been fixed.
  • Some other minor bugs have been fixed.

New in Application Wizard 2.5.1 (Jun 14, 2010)

  • The Switch to Finder and Switch to Finder and hide other applications keyboard shortcuts have been added. To define and enable the new shortcuts, open the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences and click the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
  • Check for updates has been fully revised and lets you now check for updates both manually and automatically. To set Application Wizard to check for updates automatically or schedule how often you want it to check, open the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences and click the Software Update button.
  • Some minor bugs concerning the ejection and mounting of volumes have been fixed.

New in Application Wizard 2.5 (Mar 16, 2010)

  • Application Wizard lets you now choose what types of volumes (hard disks, external disks, removable media, connected servers, inactive disks) appear in the Special menu and allows you to eject disks, partitions, and servers and mount ejected disks.
  • To specify what volumes appear in the Special menu, open the Configure Special Menu dialog, double-click Volumes in the Special Menu list, and select the desired types. To quickly eject a disk with more than one partition, hold the Option key and select any of its partitions in the Special menu. To eject a single partition, hold the Control key and select it in the Special menu. To mount a disk or partition that has been ejected, make sure you are showing inactive disks and select the ejected disk or partition in the Special menu.
  • On Mac OS X 10.5 or later, the Recent Documents and Recent Servers items can now be added to the Special menu so that you can quickly open recently used files and connect to recently used servers.
  • The Aperture Library submenu now fully supports Aperture 3.
  • The Activity Monitor command has been added to the System Memory submenu so that you can quickly open Activity Monitor and learn more about the processes running on your computer and their memory usage.
  • The iPhoto Library submenu solves some incompatibilities with iPhoto '09, fixes some bugs, and lets you see how your published albums appear online.
  • The opening of aliases from the Special menu has been enhanced. In addition to that, you can now resolve aliases in the Special menu by selecting the Resolve aliases checkbox in the Configure Special Menu dialog.
  • Application Wizard lets you now disable previews for files located on shared computers and file servers. To disable previews on shared computers and servers, select the Do not preview files on connected servers checkbox in the Previews panel.
  • The Switch to Previous command has been added to the Switch menu.
  • Single application mode allows you now to temporarily show multiple applications so that you can use them together. To link applications so that they are visible together, highlight them in the Switch menu and press the Command key.
  • Application Wizard lets you now define keyboard shortcuts to quickly accomplish frequent tasks. To work with keyboard shortcuts, open the Keyboard Shortcuts pane of the Application Wizard preferences.
  • If you use hot keys to display the Open, Quit, Switch, and Special menus, you can now choose where menus appear on the screen. Besides the pointer position, you can now display menus in a screen corner or centered on the screen. To edit menu positions, open the General pane of the Application Wizard preferences, click a menu position button, and select the desired position.
  • A bug, introduced in version 2.4, causing the Open and Special menus not to show the Classic Applications Folder item and the Start/Stop/Restart Classic commands when Classic is installed has been fixed.
  • A bug, introduced in version 2.4, causing the Applications panel not to list non-bundled applications has been fixed.
  • Several other minor bugs have been fixed and several minor improvements have been introduced.

New in Application Wizard 2.4 (Sep 30, 2009)

  • The incompatibilities with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard have been solved. In addition to that, the Application Wizard preference pane is now 64-bit capable on Snow Leopard.
  • On Macs with a 64-bit processor and Snow Leopard, the Quit and Switch menus now mark 32-bit applications instead of 64-bit applications.
  • On Macs with a 64-bit processor and Snow Leopard, applications can be opened in 32-bit mode directly from the Open menu by selecting them and pressing the Control key. In addition to that, Application Wizard lets you customize applications so that they always open in 32-bit mode.
  • On Snow Leopard, Application Wizard calculates file and disk sizes using the decimal system (1 KB = 1,000 bytes, 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes, ... ).
  • The Login Window item can now be added to the Special menu, so that you can quickly lock your screen while you are away from your computer.
  • Besides moving files to the Trash and copying them to the desktop, the Special menu lets you now move or copy files to any folder or disk. To move or copy a file, select it in the Special menu and choose the Move to or Copy to command, respectively.
  • Application Wizard lets you now disable previews for specific file types. To disable previews for one or more file types, select the Do not preview files with extension checkbox in the Previews panel and enter the corresponding extensions.
  • On Mac OS X 10.5 or later, the configuration of hot keys has been revised so that Unicode keyboards and the F17, F18, F19 keys are now supported. In addition to that, keypad keys appear in square brackets [ ] in the General pane of the Application Wizard preferences and hot keys are now disabled in full screen mode.
  • On Mac OS X 10.5 or later, the management of the Application Wizard login item has been revised to solve possible incompatibilities.
  • A bug that prevented paths from being displayed in the Configure Special Menu dialog despite the Info button was turned on has been fixed.
  • A bug that could cause Application Wizard to crash under particular circumstances when the depth of folders added to the Open menu was changed has been fixed.
  • Several other minor bugs have been fixed and some other minor improvements have been introduced.
  • Minimum required system version is now Mac OS X 10.4.

New in Application Wizard 2.3.4 (May 26, 2009)

  • An incompatibility with Mac OS X 10.5.7 that caused the menu panel to disappear after fast user switching or after the display or computer was put to sleep when multiple users were logged in has been fixed.
  • A bug causing type selection to be inactive in the Applications pane and Applications panel lists has been fixed.
  • A bug that could cause Application Wizard to crash under particular circumstances when buttons were dragged out of the menu panel or menu bar has been fixed.
  • On Leopard, the System Memory submenu has been rearranged so that it shows physical memory allocation and page ins and outs consistently with Activity Monitor.

  • The active application's windows can now be displayed directly in the Switch menu, so that you can always quickly switch between the windows of the application you are using. To list the active application's windows in the Switch menu, select the Quickly access the active application windows checkbox in the Menus pane.
  • On Macs with a 64-bit processor, the Quit and Switch menus can indicate 64-bit applications. To show whether running applications are 64-bit applications, select the Mark 64-bit applications checkbox in the Menus pane.
  • The Application Wizard contextual menu now appears both in the Finder and in Path Finder.
  • The iPhoto Library and Aperture Library submenus have been updated and display MobileMe gallery icons.
  • Several other minor interface improvements and fixes have been introduced.

New in Application Wizard 2.3.2 (Jun 6, 2008)

  • The automatic showing of all open applications when single application mode is turned off can now be disabled. To keep inactive applications hidden, deselect the Show all when turning single application mode off checkbox in the Menus pane.
  • The X11 application now appears in the Quit and Switch menus, so that you can re-enter, hide or exit the X11 environment using Application Wizard.
  • Previews of album covers on Mac OS X 10.5 have been improved.
  • An incompatibility of the Application Wizard contextual menu plug-in with Interarchy has been fixed. The incompatibility caused Interarchy to crash if you tried to display a file's contextual menu from a listing window.
  • An incompatibility with Mac OS X 10.5.2 or later that caused Application Wizard to quit after forcing a Universal application to run using Rosetta has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused Application Wizard to crash when trying to display the Dock Applications submenu if spacers were added to the Leopard Dock has been fixed.
  • Some other minor fixes have been introduced.

  • The Address Book item can now be added to the Special menu, so that you can quickly access your contacts. Application Wizard lets you view cards, display phone numbers in large type, create pre-addressed email messages, visit home pages, invite contacts to a chat, copy mailing labels and create vCards.
  • Application Wizard can now be shown in the menu bar by selecting the Show buttons in menu bar checkbox in the General pane. Besides the normal positioning in the menu bar, Application Wizard lets you force buttons to always appear to the left of all your other status items or display them centrally between status items and menu extras or position them to the right of all menu extras, immediately before the Spotlight icon.
  • A bug that caused the Add to iPhoto command not to be available in image previews if the iPhoto Library item wasn't added to the Special menu has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused the menu panel to be visible when iPhoto was in
