  • Mac OS X Yosemite compatibility:
  • Anonymizer Universal is now compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10).
  • Account status information panel:
  • This new panel displays important information about your account, including your username and subscription status.
  • Enhanced account verification:
  • Anonymizer Universal now verifies your saved user account information when launched and every time a VPN connection is established. You’ll now know right away if there is a problem with your account.
  • Redesigned notification window:
  • The status notification window is now smaller when collapsed and less intrusive to your normal workflow. Also, a new “Stay On Top” option in Settings lets you choose whether you want to have the notification window appear on top of all other windows.
  • Server location selection (Beta):
  • Coming soon! Connect to any of our new VPN server locations, giving you enhanced speed and flexibility when you travel, especially when outside of the United States. More locations will be added soon.
  • In “Automatic” mode, Anonymizer Universal will choose the closest VPN server to your current location, for the best possible speed.
  • For more control, select a server location in the Settings panel and Anonymizer Universal will always connect via that location.

  • Fixed a bug where the On/Off switch failed to work randomly at startup and in some cases following an Internet connection disruption.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the VPN connection from being automatically restored following an Internet connection disruption in some cases.
  • Added improved error handling for several OpenVPN connection issues.
  • On/Off switch state is now consistent with status window while disconnecting.
  • Quit menu option and Cmd+Q now both correctly disconnect the VPN before exiting.
  • OpenVPN tunnel adapter is now unloaded when the VPN tunnel is disconnected to prevent interference with other OpenVPN clients.

  • Anonymizer Universal is now fully compatible with Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion.
  • Mountain Lion incompatibility issue with OpenVPN mode has been resolved.
  • A bug in L2TP mode that caused a network configuration dialog to appear every time the app was launched has been squashed.
  • The application bundle is now fully signed, for compatibility with Mountain Lion and enhanced security.
  • The OpenVPN software bundled with Anonymizer Universal has been updated to v2.2.1, the latest stable version of OpenVPN for Mac.

  • New Features:
  • OpenVPN! Anonymizer Universal now uses open-source OpenVPN™¹ tunnel technology, which seamlessly traverses most routers and firewalls. This allows Anonymizer Universal to protect your identity at Wi-Fi hotspots and other locations that block standard VPN connections. Please note that the first time you launch Anonymizer Universal, you will be presented with a dialog asking you for permission to secure files related to OpenVPN.
  • Wi-Fi hotspot detection! Anonymizer Universal will now automatically detect and warn you when connecting your computer to a Wi-Fi hotspot that requires you to login and/or accept the terms and conditions before using the Internet. Click Launch in the new notification dialog for easy access to the hotspot's authentication page, which loads in your default web browser.
  • New Help screen gives you direct access to our most frequently-requested support information.
  • New Preferences options let you adjust OpenVPN's protocol settings or switch back to L2TP/IPsec VPN technology. Note: changes made to this section while you are connected do not take effect until you disconnect.
  • Bugs Fixed:
  • Fixed a bug in the Anonymizer Universal menu that prevented the use of the Disconnect option when Anonymizer Universal is connected.
