New in AeroFS EA29.1 (Feb 24, 2012)

  • We rewrote the core syncing algorithm in the past month. Significant improvements should be seen in syncing speed, CPU usage, and network traffic especially when a library contains large numbers of files and devices. The new algorithm also reduces constant metadata requests to a great extent. (Note that only new libraries will benefit from the change.)
  • Improved network stability. We’ve fixed several bugs in our network stack which causes syncing to stall in some cases.
  • Improved network performance. There should be fewer cases of slow transfer speed over fast networks.
  • Better handling of file conflicts. Conflicts with the same content will be automatically merged (i.e. they will not show up in the “Why Aren’t My Files Synced” dialog.)
  • AeroFS no longer installs Growl if an installation already exists. In particular, it will not install Growl 1.2 if 1.3 is detected.
  • This update also includes many minor improvements and bug fixes in both the backend and the user interface.

New in AeroFS EA27.3 (Feb 24, 2012)

  • Implemented Version History. Early versions of any file can be retrieved from the new “Backup > Version History…” dialog. For the time being, however, only libraries with cloud backup enabled support this feature. P2P-based Version History will be done in the future.
  • Fixed a bug which might generate many false conflicts (observable from the “Why aren’t my files synced?” dialog), if a library consists of a Windows computer and more than one non-Windows computer. The new release will stop generating new false conflicts but won’t delete old ones. To delete them, simply select “Delete Conflicts” in the dialog.
  • Redesigned the “Why aren’t my files synced?” dialog , and added the “Sync Now” button in the “Why aren’t my files synced?” dialog, to support manual sync from arbitrary devices
  • Improved scalability on the server side
  • Fixed some minor bugs
