New in AcaStat 2200.2.1 (Jul 17, 2018)

  • Updated from 32-bit to 64-bit.
  • The charts module was redesigned. New features include adding data point values in charts, changing bar colors, converting axis values from counts to percentages, and the option to change the calculation of percentages for bivariate bar charts.
  • Improved the use of string variables as controls and for bivariate analyses.

New in AcaStat 2200.1.8 (Mar 12, 2018)

  • This update improves automatic decimal formatting for reporting mean confidence intervals in the Explore tab to ensure sufficient decimals are shown for small values. The number of decimal places displayed was also increased for other values from one decimal to 3 for most values.

  • The data merge procedure was redesigned so that merges match variable names and add records regardless of the order of variables in a data file.
  • Added a new data merge procedure to support adding variables from a second data file with matching record identifiers.
  • Added a locked ID column that can be set to any record-identifying variable in the data file. This simplifies verifying data for individual records in data files with many variables by displaying a copy of the identifier variable to the left of the data.
  • Added General Social Survey (GSS) 2014 data that was released recently by NORC and updated the cummulative data file for GSS 2008 to GSS 2014.
  • Changed the paste operation in the data format module so that the paste button is not disabled after pasting formatting into one variable.

  • This is a major update of AcaStat 8 that includes stability improvements and the following new features:
  • The addition of an Explore tab simplifies data analysis. Drag and drop variables into the labeled boxes and AcaStat automatically runs the selected statistical procedure. Key summary statistics are displayed in the Explore tab for quick review of the analysis.
  • Explore includes an Options Panel that displays familiar list boxes, analysis options, and control settings.
  • Explore charts are automatically produced for five statistical procedures. A horizontal bar chart for frequencies, a histogram for descriptives, a scattergram for correlation, a histogram of residuals for OLS regression, and an ROC curve for diagnostic accuracy.
  • Explore charts may be previewed for editing, printing, copying, or saving.
  • Chart data is retained for descriptives, correlation, and OLS regression. Click on a prior analysis to view the chart for that analysis.
  • The copy button in Explore will copy selected rows of output or, if no rows are selected, it will copy all of the list box contents. Copied contents can easily be pasted into a spreadsheet or word processor to assist in report writing and editing.
  • A streamlined print format is provided for output displayed in the Explore tab.
  • Error messages have been improved and an error flag is displayed in the Explore tab.
  • Explore displays a data dictionary for the loaded data file when AcaStat is maximized or reaches a width sufficient for proper display of the data dictionary. This allows quick review of variable information alongside the analysis module.
  • The Data tab has been enhanced to allow creating and editing data files with more than 60 variables.
  • The Format module is displayed in the Data tab to the left of the data spreadsheet. Click on a column to view and edit variable formatting.
  • Value formatting has been increased from 8 to 12 value labels.
  • Mean centering and standardized score variable transformations have been added to the Compute module options.
  • The data filter has been enhanced to improve the visual display of excluded rows.
  • The toolbar button or pull-down menu will now add 50 spreadsheet rows instead of one.
  • T-test of means has a new feature that conducts a t-test on all possible group comparisons when group values are not specified in the Options boxes.

  • Minor fixes.
  • The data limits in the demo version have been improved to allow the analysis of up to 50 observations instead of the previous limit of 20 observations.
  • This allows use of all observations in the Workbook data file for educational purposes without purchase of a licensed version.
