Open AI Files

AI is Adobe Illustrator's default image format and it is a single-page drawings based on vectors. AI files consist of paths connected using points, rather than bitmap image data.

There are several apps that have built-in support for the AI graphic format capable of enlarging these files with no quality loss (pixelation).

Adobe Illustrator is the recommended graphic app for opening AI files, but there also are alternatives.

Nonetheless, some image viewers might rasterize the image, thus affecting the overall image quality.

Users have to be aware that only specialized apps will be able to correctly handle the image layers inside AI files.
