Detect Rootkit Apps and Alternatives

A rootkit is a malware tool designed to gain administrator-level control over a system without being detected by the user or any of the security apps installed

A rootkit's purpose is to perform malicious operations targeting a system's kernel, BIOS, boot loader, or, sometimes, libraries or programs.

The rootkit will initially take measures to hide its presence by deceiving in any way possible the security tools present in the OS and then gain privileged access to its resources.

Therefore, highly specialized security applications are required to detect and remove such malware.

Furthermore, rootkit detectors will also provide users with the possibility to protect their Macs against such threats by setting up filters.
