RGB is one of the default graphics bitmap file formats widely used on the Silicon Graphics platform.
Originally, the RGB color image raster format was developed for storing color images on SGI workstations, for storing the texture files so that they may be used by third-party applications.
Because the RGB format is rarely used, RGB images will often be converted to more common file formats that may be easily accessed and modified using a wider range of apps.
One can also use RGB converters to preview this type of images, as well as to perform simple editing operations like resizing and rotation.
