MOV is a proprietary multimedia container developed by Apple, a format that may contain one or more files, each of them consisting of video, audio, or subtitles.
Frequently used for storing video files, users prefer the MOV format due to its editing capabilities, but will also convert MOV files to other formats to be able to access them using a wider range of apps.
Video encoders will allow MOV files to be converted to video formats that can be viewed by most video players.
Users are also able to preview MOV videos using the same apps that support conversion.
