Strike and Dip enables you to take your strike and dip measurements in one step, and also to save them as notes.

Here are just a few examples of what Strike and Dip can do: take strike and dip measurements, bearings, plunge, and all that geological goodness, while simultaneously getting your latitude, longitude, and elevation.

Strike and Dip lets you take bearings as you would do with a pocket transit, or take them using your iPhone’ camera. Strike and Dip keeps your field notes, with every note tagged with your GPS coordinates and the time and date.

Edit your notes right on your iPhone, and email them to yourself in a comma-delimited file that can be opened by almost any data-analysis tool

Choose between azimuth and quadrant formats for bearings, and three formats for coordinates.

To measure strike, just hold the edge against a dipping surface and and handy yellow triangles tell you how to level your iPhone. To measure dip, turn the iPhone up on its side in the direction of dip.

Strike and dip will highlight in green when you have an accurate measurement. Position and elevation also turn green when you've got a good reading.

Strike and Dip works in English, French, German, and Spanish.

NOTE: The Strike and Dip can only be purchased via the Mac App Store (the buy link redirects you to its App Store page). To purchase/download applications via the App Store an Apple account is required.
