Paper is an alternative text editor that features a minimalist design, Markdown support, and the possibility to export the content to various formats.

The Paper app is intended to help the user focus on the writing, while also taking advantage of the Markdown syntax for the formatting. Naturally, the editor comes with support for working in full-screen mode.

The Paper user interface is represented by a single window, and you get to choose if you want the title bar visible or not (you can opt to toggle the visibility on mouse-over). The utility allows you to switch between different text display modes: rich text, typewriter, or focus mode (paragraph or sentence).

Paper comes with word and character counters, and you can choose if you want to see them in the corner or next to the edited line.

For your convenience, Paper allows you to rely on Markdown syntax to deal with the formatting and even comes with hotkeys for some of the most commonly used functions, such as working with headings, inserting links, or emphasizing different sections.

Paper comes with a night theme designed to protect your eyes when working in the dark, delivers control over the cursor, scroll bar, and title bar appearance, and even allows you to change the look of the Dock icon.

You also get control over the text so that you can modify the font size and style, the line length, or the accent color. Note that by default the Paper documents are saved as Markdown files, but you can also export the data to PDF, HTML, or Rich or Plain text files.
