Aristocrat For Mac

Aristocrat offers you the possibility to quickly run an optical character recognition algorithm on any text displayed on your screen, but can also decode some of the most popular barcode types.

Upon launch, Aristocrat places a small menulet in your status bar which provides quick access to all its functions. The app allows you to capture certain areas of the screen and then quickly places the recognized text in the status bar menu. Here you can read it and quickly send it to your clipboard.

At the same time, you can also choose to capture and copy the text to the clipboard directly in order to save time. Keep in mind that Aristocrat also comes with keyboard shortcuts for these two functions.

Via the app’s Preferences window you get to easily change the default hotkeys, and you can choose to remove hyphenation and line breaks.

Noteworthy is that Aristocrat can also deal with some of the most popular barcode types, including EAN-8 and EAN-13, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, ITF, Codabar, RSS-14, QR Code, Data Matrix, Aztec, and PDF 417.

The capture process remains the same, and you will be able to see the decoded content in the app’s status bar menu. The data can then be copied to the clipboard, or you can share it with others by Mail, via Messages, or on social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook).

Aristocrat is a great tool to have around if you need to have access to uneditable text, or if you want to decode barcodes with minimal effort. If the app does not display satisfactory result on the first try, during our test we have noticed that Aristocrat works better if you simply zoom the image or barcode.
