Static wallpapers can get quite dull after a while, and represent a waste if you want to make the most out of your desktop space.

VidWall enables you to replace your wallpaper with a video of your choice and toggle the desktop icons visibility to keep everything as neat as possible.

The VidWall application comes with a minimalist status bar menu that provides quick access to all supported functionalities. You get to select the video you want to see on the desktop, to start or pause the playback, to toggle the sound or the desktop icons visibility.

VidWall should be able to work with any QuickTime supported video: just use the OS X Finder to direct the app to the respective video file. If a particular video format is not supported, VidWall will simply not load it.

VidWall also offers you the option to clean up your desktop in no time: all the files and folders are moved to the ~/Desktop directory, which will make them invisible.

The application does not delete any of the items present on your desktop, so all the data will remain intact. The operation can be reversed just as easily, but keep in mind that the files remain invisible even after quitting VidWall.

Worth mentioning is that VidWall does not come with any customization options whatsoever: you cannot specify the size of the desktop area that will be covered by the video or the resolution that should be used by default.
