Finding beautiful wallpapers for your desktop can be time consuming: you must download the images, make sure they look good on your desktop, and even take the time to make adjustments via the System Preferences if they don’t.

Artpaper is a minimalist application that provides easy access to a collection of artistic wallpapers featuring famous paintings. The app immediately changes the wallpaper each time you refresh its main panel, but you also get to create a favorites list.

Within the Artpaper status bar panel, you have the possibility to preview and use as wallpapers 16o beautiful pictures. For each image, Artpaper includes the painting and artist name, and you can jump to the next entry with a simple mouse click.

All the pictures are downloaded when you install the app, so you do not need an internet connection to use the utility. You do not have to keep Artpaper running at all times: the wallpaper is preserved even if you quit the app.

Via the Artpaper Settings panel you can choose to allow the app to modify the wallpaper automatically when your Mac shuts down or goes into sleep mode, or at a particular time interval, going from 30 minutes to up to a month.

By default, Artpaper will employ the entire paintings collection, but you can decide to use only the ones included in your favorites list.

The best part about creating a set of images you prefer is the fact that you can quickly activate them as wallpapers: otherwise, you have to browse the entire Artpaper image collection all over again.
