iScreenior For Mac

iScreenior is a low-key and user-friendly Mac OS X screencasting application that offers a very simple solution for video capturing your whole screen or only a user-defined area. The app comes with basic functions to capture screen snapshots or record its activity.

With iScreenior, you can start recording your screen in a matter of seconds. Since the app provides a menu bar panel with all the important functions, recording is a really simple task. From the menu bar you can capture the entire screen (take a screenshot) or start / stop recording it.

By accessing iScreenior’s window, you ca use several options: record full screen or a predefined area, record with microphone (or with the built-in input, NoMachine Microphone Adapter or Audio Adapter) and choose the video resolution.

The videos are recorded in the common MP4 format which you can play in QuickTime or other apps. What’s more, after you stop a recording, you have an option to open the folder containing the clip or add it to iTunes.

The Output menu in the iScreenior window allows you to select the appropriate screen resolution of the clip. What’s great is that it allows you to choose the resolution based on your Mac’s size (e.g. 15, 21, 27 inch) and includes a button to auto-detect the best resolution.

Users can freely adjust the parameters of captured videos, such as resolution, framerate, bitrate, audio bitrate, sample and channels. You can choose the output folders for the snapshots and videos, assign hotkeys to start recording and upload the clip to YouTube directly from the app.

All things considered, iScreenior does a great job at video screen recording on the Mac OS X platform. It comes with limited features, but it’s designed for users who want an affordable, lightweight and uncomplicated screen recording app.
