Including metadata information in your iTunes movies collection will certainly improve your experience: not only that you will be able to see all the beautiful cover art, but you will also view the director name, the rating and many more useful details with a simple glance.

MetaMovie is an easy to use Mac app designed to help you bring your entire collection up to date in a few easy steps. To get started you must drag an drop the movie file on top of the MetaMovie window. The app is able to work with the MP4 and M4V file formats (which are also supported by iTunes).

The next step is to search for the movie title on the TMDb website: in the TMDb Information panel you will be able to see details about the film, together with all the available cover images.

At this point, you must start transferring the data to the MetaMovie main window and then press the Save button to embed it to the movie file.

MetaMovie allows you to store the following types of information about each film: the title, starring actors, director, screenwriter, producer, studio, rating, genre, format, release date and number of chapters. Of course, you can also attach a short and a long description and the image you want to use as a cover.

Last but not least, if you are an EyeTV user, you can use MetaMovie to quickly transfer the EPEG information to your movies in no time. After you import the movie you want to process, drag and drop the .eyetv file on top of the MetaMovie window and the contained information will be copied to the appropriate fields.

To sum up, MetaMovie proposes a simple solution for cleaning up your iTunes movie collection: you can populate the metadata fields for each entry with information found online, on the themoviedb.org website.
