Lona Webcam Recorder for Mac
Lona Webcam Recorder is a minimalistic Mac OS X application designed to record the stream of your Mac’s integrated or external webcam. The utility is capable of doing other things too, such as recording only audio or taking snapshots.
The application is extremely simple to work with thanks to the an intuitive user interface that can be accessed via a menu bar item and displays what is in front of the camera. Note that, at first launch, only the menu item will appear, so you must click on it to access the main window.
Furthermore, a toolbar at the bottom of the window provides buttons to start / stop recording, take snapshots, open the recording in the Finder or to choose the snap location. The target video formats supported by Lona Webcam Recorder include FLV, MP4, MOV and other popular ones. What’s more, the audio is recorded to an MP3 file.
Besides the options visible in the main GUI, several other settings are available in a left pane. This pane allows you to choose the default camera, enable / disable the audio output and to configure various video and audio parameters (profile / format, resolution, framerate, bitrate, audio birate, sample and channels).
All in all, Lona Webcam Recorder is a no-frills solution to recording the video and audio input that your Mac’s iSight camera or USB camera receive. It can convert the videos to various popular formats and can even take screenshots and apply custom watermarks.
