VideoBox For Mac

Watching Flash videos in your browser can prove to be challenging if you have a slow internet connection. VideoBox is a small Mac app that enables you to quickly download videos that are hosted on popular websites to your disk.

The application comes bundled with a Safari extension that, once installed, allows you to directly send clips to VideoBox. However, you do not have to integrate the extension in Safari if you don’t want to: a VideoBox prompt window enables you to make a choice.

The VideoBox user interface is reduced to a single window where you must drag and drop the URLs you want to process. Note that you can also drop video links on top of the VideoBox Dock icon and get the same effect: the app will analyze the webpage and let’s you know if it can extract the clip.

The best part is that you can add as many URLs as you like, at the same time: VideoBox scans them and simply includes them into the conversion list. To start processing all you have to do is press the “Convert All” button placed on the bottom left corner.

When you start downloading a video, you get to specify the output file name, location, and file format. VideoBox is able to generate videos that are compatible with iDVD - iMovie, iPad, iPod Classic, iPod Touch - iPhone, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, PSP, or Xbox 360.

What’s more, you can decide to export the content to a format that can simply be played on a Mac (MP4) or you can download in raw mode. VideoBox comes with advanced settings for each conversion preset, so you get to easily personalize the output quality, image size, and so on.

VideoBox proposes simple solutions for quickly downloading Flash video content hosted online, and convert the data to other popular file formats in the process. This is extremely useful if you want to make sure you will have access to the media at all time, or if you have a very slow internet connection.
