EDL-X For Mac

If your edit your videos and movies with Final Cut Pro X and you need to use your cuts into other post production systems, chances are that you need an application capable to generate the required EDL files.

EDL-X is one of the applications that promises to help you create Edit Decision List (also known as EDL) files from Final Cut Pro X XML files.

Edit Decision List files contain an organized list of reel and timecode data about edits that should be made in order to obtain the final cut. EDLs are used in the post production process of video and film editing.

In other words, EDL-X enables you to generate EDL files conform to the CMX 3600 standard and use them to import your editing into different post production systems such as Smoke, DaVinci Resolve and others.

EDL-X comes with flexible Source Reel Naming handling and, as a result, you can obtain the source names directly from the FCP XML file or from the QuickTime files used in your project. Alternatively, you can use full file paths and media file names to obtain the source names.

The Preferences window helps you prioritize and choose the items you want to use for Source Reel info by simply dragging the desired items into the Active panel. You can also limit the Source Reel names to 3, 8, 16 or 32 alphanumeric characters.

You can even choose what type of tracks are included in the EDL and configure EDL-X to ignore transitions and display clip names, media file path and mismatched frame rates. Another useful feature is the “Force Sequence Timecode Format” that you can use if the source timecode format does not match the sequence.

EDL-X is a user-oriented macOS application designed from the ground up to enables you to quickly convert Final Cut Pro X XML data into Edit Decision List files.
