CaptureSync is a simple yet powerful OS X application that enables you to record content captured by multiple cameras and audio sources at the same time.

All the data streams are synchronized and put together in the same QuickTime file, which is instantly be ready for sharing.

To start using the CaptureSync application, you must first navigate to the app’s Preferences window and specify the video and audio sources you want to employ.

CaptureSync can use your built-in iSight camera, or any analog, network, HDMI, SDI, USB, FireWire, or ThunderBolt connected video or audio device. The utility can also capture your screen or the monitor of any other network-connected Mac computer.

CaptureSync is able to deal with IP based cameras by using the ONVIF standard. Note that you can employ the RemoteSight companion utility to gain access to the camera, screen, or microphone of a network-connected Mac (the setup process is a lot faster).

CaptureSync can connect up to 16 different cameras and audio devices and records all the streams to the same file. Via the app’s Preferences you can adjust the size of the capture screen, but also the video compression format (JPEG or MPEG-4).

The content is saved to a QuickTime file and does not require any post processing. However, during our test, the produced MOV file could not be opened by the QuickTime Player 10 version: the video required QuickTime Player 7 edition which is an outdated variant.

CaptureSync enables you to record videos that include content from multiple cameras without requiring any editing on the user side. Simply make sure that all sources are connected, and CaptureSync takes care of the rest.

What's new in CaptureSync 1.1:

  • Improved synchronisation of network video sources
  • Larger buffer for local devices to avoid dropped frames
  • New option for uncompressed 16-bit and 24-bit audio capture
  • New feature to split multi-track files for import into Final Cut Pro
