uMobileCam Camera for Mac
uMobileCam Camera is a camera surveillance application for Mac OS X that is capable of sending the recorded video and audio from your Mac’s webcam to your mobile device. uMobileCam Camera transmits the captured data through cellular 3G or local Wi-Fi networks.
Note that although the Mac client is free of charge, the iOS version of the app costs a few dollars. Thus, if you do not own the iOS app, you should not consider using this OS X application. In addition, the app requires account authentication, i.e user ID, key, as well as password.
Furthermore, uMobileCam Camera’s user interface consists of a two-tabbed window. In the first tab, you can watch your live camera recording and in the second tab you can configure the settings, such as entering the device name, account credentials, choosing the video and audio device and selecting the IP address.
Other settings include switching the port type, motion detection and sensitivity and audio detection and sensitivity; a total of 5 different sensitivity levels can be selected. It is also possible to allow notifications, schedule snapshots (every 30 or 60 minutes), choose the snapshot format (image or video) and the output folder.
To wrap up, uMobileCam Camera transforms your mobile device into a remote surveillance tool that captures video and audio via your Mac. It uses secured layer encryption for account authentication and is free of charge on the Mac OS X platform. The app is recommended to anyone who seeks an unsophisticated video surveillance solution for iOS devices.
