theLibrarian aims to help you keep information about your books collection in the same place, regardless of the online store you have bought them from or the storage medium or location.
The cataloging software allows you to import details about each entry from online resources to reduce the time you spend inputting data but also delivers full control over the content so you can make any adjustment you see fit.
theLibrarian will automatically create a new library file to help you get started but keep in mind that you can quickly start new ones and work on multiple collections at the same time.
You have the option to create blank entries and input all the data on your own, or you can import books with the help of various identifiers, such as ISBN, DOI, Google ID, Amazon ID, or iTunes ID.
On the other hand, you can load plain book files, items in Calibre or theLibrarian styled folders, or documents stored in the cloud (Dropbox or Google Drive). In all cases, you get full control over the metadata information so you can easily change or remove any detail.
Within the theLibrarian main window, you get to sort your books by collections, genre, author, publisher, or status. Also, the app also comes with a couple of smart folders that can help you find items faster.
theLibrarian sports an advanced search function that allows you to apply multiple rules at the same time and can work with the data stored in various fields, such as title, author, publisher, publication date, genre, collection, rating, synopsis, notes, keywords, source, and format.
The best part is that theLibrarian allows you to associate multiple files to the same entry so that you can store the book in various languages, and so on. Some of the supported formats include PDF, RTF, HTML, ODT, MOBI, EPUB, DJVU, CBR, CBZ, or AZW3. Note that you can also use the app to convert between some of these formats.
theLibrarian brings to the table a well-organized space where you can store both documents and metadata information so you can quickly access all the books in your collection.
For your convenience, theLibrarian can import metadata details from online sources, but you can manually edit the data. Moreover, theLibrarian features an advanced search tool and enables you to sort the collection by various criteria.
