iTranslate For Mac

iTranslate is an unobtrusive status bar menu application that offers you the possibility to quickly translate text, words, and phrases between various languages.

The app requires an active internet connection and you can check the developers page to view the complete list of over 80 supported languages. Note that in some cases, iTranslate provides support for voice recognition, romanization, and text-to-speech conversion (including in offline mode).

iTranslate is both unobtrusive and easily accessible: you can easily activate the translation panel by pressing the status bar menulet, or you can define a keyboard shortcut via the app’s Preferences panel.

A small menu enables you to quickly change both the source and target languages, or switch their places. What’s more, in case of some languages, iTranslate offers you the possibility to hear the words pronunciation.

Right off the bat, you must select the languages you want to work with: iTranslate provides simple drop down menus that include all the available possibilities. The app also includes a simple search tool to find a specific entry in the list faster.

At the same time, when you start typing the word you want to translate, iTranslate automatically displays a list with the dictionary entries that match the input: simply select the word you want to use. In the bottom area of the iTranslate panel, you will be able to see the translated form, possible meanings, and phrases that include the word.

Noteworthy is that iTranslate provides basic translation tools right in your status bar: you can summon the app’s interface with a simple click or by using a hotkey, input a word in the source language field, and then immediately see the translation. As a result, your workflow is minimally disturbed.
