editor's review

In some countries, particularly in the US, police radio feeds are available to the public. For quite a while, these feeds have been accessed by journalists, reporters or any other curious person eager to find out what police officers are saying to each other. Capturing these signals require a 3rd party application.

iScan is an intuitive police scanning application which enables you to listen to police, EMS and fire department radio feeds for free. The application supports feeds from Australia, Canada and the United States and includes police code translations, so you understand what they communicate.

A variety of feeds in the US are available, including New York Police & Fire, Miami, LAPD, Houston, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Washington Police and more. If you do not find the station in your city, you can add it manually, or ask the developer to include it.

The app features a simple and easy-to-use interface where you can browse feeds by states, control the playback and read the police codes. Moreover, the app comes with the ability to add the feeds you like the most to a list of favorites for quick access in the future.

Furthermore, the iScan app comes with a social network sharing feature, allowing you to share the station you are listening to on Facebook or Twitter. Another advantage is that, when you close the app, the feeds continue to play in the background.

All in all, iScan does a great job at bringing you a variety of police feeds by scanning different areas in the US, Canada and Australia. The app works as advertised and the price is well worth it, considering its handy features and the developer’s active support.
