iBouquiniste is a streamlined and easy to use macOS application that makes it possible for you to read your favorite ebooks on your Mac.

The first and probably the most important thing you need to know about iBouquiniste is the fact that it comes with support for a wide array of ebook formats, namely FB2, EPUB, PDF, DJVU, and, of course, MOBI.

As an added bonus, the application also features support for archives formats like ZIP and RAR, as well as support for plain text files. Another plus is the fact that iBouquiniste enables you to fully customize your reading parameters, so you can get the most out of your reading experience.

You can change parameters like the line spacing, word spacing, paragraph spacing, first line indent, margins, and text color, as well as to choose from six well rounded themes.

Moving forward, the Library menu does a good job of sorting your ebooks, with options to sort them with the help of tags such as author, title, date, and last opened. You can benefit from three display modes that will change the Library’s layout so your ebooks will be well-organized.

That said, with a clear philosophy to keep things as simple as possible, iBouquiniste’s comes with a simple and quite intuitive interface, but it is not what you would call stylish, or even well-sorted for that matter.

While iBouquiniste’s reading mode manages to offer a clear perspective over the pages,  with fairly realistic page browsing effects, we have found the Library menu to be a little strange looking, with a lack of sharpness for the book cover’s fonts, as well as for their description text’s font.

Not only this, but sometimes when clicking the sort option, the app’s main window would be randomly moved outside our testing Mac’s screen, and other times would stop working altogether.

To conclude, based on simplicity and ease of access, iBouquiniste proved itself to be a practical ebook reader that manages to get the job done, but, it is clear that it still requires some serious development time before it can compete with the more popular, polished and, in some cases, free ebook readers on the market.
