iPhone, iPad, and iPod users have the option to create device backups that are stored on their Macs. This used to be done in iTunes, and starting with macOS Catalina, it can be done directly from Finder when your mobile device is connected to your Mac. However, while these backups can be used to restore a device, they cannot normally be browsed, and data can’t be extracted.
iBackup Extractor, as the name suggests, is an app intended to help you extract specific items from iOS backups. It allows you to open a backup, browse and preview its contents, and then extract whatever it is you need. It is particularly helpful in cases of data loss when you want to retrieve specific content from a device that is no longer accessible.
This app can access and extract every type of data stored in iOS backups: contacts, messages, call history, calendars, browsing history, notes, photos, and voice mails. These can all be exported directly or converted to various formats, as needed.
Before attempting to extract anything, you can analyze a backup’s contents and preview everything, perhaps even making an extraction unnecessary. A search function is also included to help you find particular items.
