ZipSplit For Mac

ZipSplit is a minimalist macOS application that enables you to easily split ZIP archives or DMG images into any number of smaller segments. It helps you when transferring large ZIP or DMG files to servers, disks, small storage spaces, or anywhere you can think of.

The application sports an extremely simple user interface, which consists of the app’s icon and the word “SEGMENT” below it. Clicking on the icon opens a window to navigate to the ZIP or DMG image you want to split.

Once you select the desired file, click on the “Choose” button. Note that ZipSplit can work with only one file at once.

After choosing the file, you are prompted to select the segment size in MB. By default, 50 MB are allocated, but you can type in any value. In the next stage of the process, you must select the target directory, after which ZipSplit quickly creates segmented files of user-specified size. For instance, a 250 MB DMG image is split into 50 MB segments in just a few seconds.

As expected, DMG images are split into .dmgpart files, and ZIP archives are divided into z01, z02, etc. segments. If you chose to use this application, you probably know how to reintegrate these segmented files as well. In short, a special software is required, but mostly command line tools.
