Xpra is a powerful open source utility designed to make it as easy as possible to run X11 based apps on any remote machine, use them from a local computer and, when needed, disconnecting or reconnecting without killing the app on the remote host.
The main advantage of Xpra is the fact that it helps you run remote apps as utilities running locally, with connection sessions encrypted using either password protected TCP or via SSH.
Most importantly, even if the internet connection is interrupted, the remote apps will keep running, Xpra effectively behaving like the UNIX utility screen, only for GUI based applications.
Moreover, Xpra is both multi-language and cross-platform, which means that it can be used on a OS X, Windows and Linux, as well as on a wide variety of localised platforms.
