XGuard For Mac

XGuard is a free and intuitive Mac OS X application that enables you to monitor up to 9 different remote IP or DVR cameras on your Mac at the same time. It provides a versatile surveillance system with support for replaying recorded clips from DVRs or VSS devices.

The application provides a standard-looking user interface divided into 3 different panes: the device manager, the operation panel and the video display pane. What’s more, the app can be viewed in full screen, and you can also resize the entire window by dragging its edges or corners.

In the device manager, you can add and view the devices you want to monitor. Devices can be added by entering their name, address, port, username, password and device type (DVR or IPCAM). Also, the operation panel allows you to access the different functions, play recorded videos and view the events.

One of the advantages of using XGuard is that, besides support for IP cameras, it can also monitor DVR or NVR devices. In addition to this, it comes with PTZ controls and remote viewing of live, PB and event video footage, as well as audio recording.

As mentioned before, the application can display up to 9 cameras simultaneously. Moreover, the video display window can be split into 3 modes for viewing 1 camera, 4 cameras or 9 cameras, respectively. The great part is that double clicking on a camera will open it in a 1x1 mode.

To sum up, the XGuard app is a great solution to remotely monitoring IP cameras, mega-pixel IP cameras, DVR devices or Video Storage Servers from your Mac. The GUI is user friendly and multiple camera recordings can be split on your screen in full-screen mode.
