Writefull for Mac2.0B
Finding your words is not always easy so comparing the expressions you used against other texts can be useful. Writefull is a status bar menu application that stays out of your way but can be summoned at any time to help you decide if your phrasing is correct.
The Writefull status bar menu is useful only to take care of administrative manners: here you can upgrade your plan or access the Preferences window.
To use the app you need to create an account free of charge which will grant you access to the English Google Books collection for 1 month. After that, if you do not upgrade your account, the search results will be delayed for 20 seconds.
At the same time, Writefull also comes with a Web edition which grants access to all the info accessible by Google: you will get the same results provided by a classic Google search. If you decide to upgrade your plan, you must navigate to the Preferences window and specify which database you want to use (Google Books or Web).
Working with Writefull is extremely easy and intuitive, but keep in mind that you must memorize at least one of the 2 default hotkeys. Press the Shift and Command keys while selecting a text string or make the selection and then push the Control + Space keyboard combination to reveal the Writefull panel.
Here you can press any of the five included buttons, depending on what you want to achieve. Writefull will tell you how many times a certain word or expression has been used, can compare the usage rate between two expressions and can show usage examples.
Moreover, Writefull can display the words that are used most frequently in a certain context or it can find synonyms in context.
All in all, Writefull delivers an intuitive and unobtrusive solution for quickly analyzing your writing by performing searches in large text databases.
