WiiControll For Mac

WiiControll is a Java based OS X utility that offers you the possibility to map the buttons of your Wii controller and interact with your computer remotely. Just connect a Wiimote to your Mac and WiiControll will help you deal with the task.

To establish a Bluetooth connection between your Mac and your Wii controller, you can install the WJoy application and allow the controller to be discovered by pressing the 1 and 2 buttons at the same time.

If you encounter any issues, try to establish a connection by pressing the red Sync button that you can find inside the controller next to the battery holder. You will be able to see the device and it’s status in the OS X Bluetooth settings panel.

Worth mentioning is that more recent OS X versions require a pairing code to connect to the Wii controllers. As a result, you might need to find the Bluetooth address for the device and convert the hexadecimal value to ASCII to get the pairing code.

Within the WiiControll main window, you will be able to see a graphical representation for the currently connected Wiimote. Just press the Wii controller button and the keyboard key you want to associate at the same time, and WiiControll will take care of the rest.

Note that you must go through the same procedure to assign keystrokes to Joystick positions. Naturally, WiiControll also offers you the possibility to erase the associations and start all over again.

Bottom line, WiiControll offers you the possibility to associate the buttons of your Wii controller with certain keyboard keys but keep in mind that you need to have the Java 6 version installed on your Mac to be able to use the tool.

At the same time, take into account that you need to connect the Wii controller via Bluetooth beforehand: more recent OS X versions require a pairing code, which might prove to be problematic.
