Knowing the current weather conditions for your location is essential for making sure you are prepared for whatever lies just outside your door, and can help you make informed decision regarding your activity.

WeatherDesk is a small Mac app that resides on your desktop and displays details about your current location, the weather conditions, the recorded temperature, and the time. The app’s panel can be locked in a certain position, so you can consult it with no effort, as long as it is not obscured by other windows.

However, note that at first launch WeatherDesk  asks for permission to use your current location: you must accept to receive the weather information. You can always change the permission status via the System Preferences window (in the Security & Privacy panel, navigate to the Location Services tab).

The WeatherDesk main window is represented by a stylish panel that comes with a rounded design. At the same time, the window is fairly transparent and integrates nicely with other graphic elements that might be included on your desktop.

Unfortunately, the WeatherDesk panel is perceived as any other app window, except you have no possibility to bring it on top when covered by other windows: the associated status bar menu does not include the option.

You have the opportunity to personalize the WeatherDesk app via a small menu that is automatically added to your status bar. The menu allows you to have the app launched at startup, and enables you to toggle the temperature measurement unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit).

Moreover, you can unlock the app position, use drag and drop actions to move the panel on your desktop, and then lock it again to keep it in place. The WeatherDesk is extremely easy to set up.

WeatherDesk offers you the possibility to visualize general details about the weather conditions for your immediate surroundings, right on your desktop, with minimal efforts, and in a fairly unobtrusive manner.
