Translucent for Mac
Translucent is a comprehensive Mac OS X application designed as an information browser regarding your Mac’s inner workings. It can display basic and more advanced information in realtime about the real memory, disk activity, statistics, system statistics and network activity.
The application can function as a menu bar based tool that comprises a different icon for each supported module: CPU activity, Disk Activity, Detailed Disk Activity, Memory Information, Statistics, System Statistics and Network Information.
The interesting part is that each icon displays a basic piece of information upon mouse hovering. However, more data can be viewed in standalone windows, which were just mentioned, on your desktop. Also, all opened windows can be shown or hidden altogether with a simple click.
The modules can be toggled on / off and placed anywhere on your desktop and the information you can learn is as diverse as it can be. For instance, the Memory Information window displays the free, used, wired, active and inactive memory and the Disk Activity shows the read and write speeds of your hard disk.
Furthermore, Translucent provides a few customization options in its Preferences window, which are mostly related to the app’s appearance. You can decide which buttons to show in the menu bar interface, change the color of each module, the background color as well as the background opacity.
On the whole, the Translucent app offers extensive details about your Mac’s overall activity at your fingertips. It helps you monitor the well-being of your Mac and help you troubleshoot potential errors in your HDD, RAM or networks. Moreover, Translucent is customizable and easy to work with.
