Timer by Ten For Mac

Timer by Ten is a straightforward Mac OS X application designed as both a practical countdown timer and stopwatch. Thus, the app allows you to count down the time until an event occurs and count lap times just as easily.

The utility is extremely simple to use thanks to its compact, 4-button user interface that displays the minutes and seconds (in a digital format), the Start button and buttons to set the minutes and the seconds in the timer.

In order to switch to the Stopwatch mode, you can just use the View menu or the CMD + 2 shortcut. Moreover, the same thing applies to switching to the Timer, but the CMD + 1 shortcut is used in this case.

In the Stopwatch mode, you can click a button to record laps and view them in a separate window. The utility can even count the tenths of seconds, an option you can toggle in the preferences.

Timer by Ten is able to display the remaining / elapsed time on the Dock and even shows the expired time in the color red (by default). You are able to select a different color for the foreground, background and expired colors via the Preferences window.

At the end of a timer, Timer by Ten can play an alarm sound (which you can select from the settings) or a button sound that can also be changed. Some extra option include adjusting the volume level, entering a full-screen mode and setting the app to always stay on top.

In a nutshell, Timer by Ten is a no-frills app that does what it says. In addition to  functioning as a reliable countdown timer for everyday needs, the app is also a basic stopwatch with various custom preferences.
