The Zipper is a fast and easy to use compression application that will allow you to compress your files with a simple drag and drop operation.

Drop the files / folders to compress onto the Zipper's Dock icon. Hold shift as the app launches to use Windows-compatible zip compression. Launch the Zipper (without dropping any files) to browse for files to compress.

File compression is awkward. Most other apps require some effort or some time to configure, specify files, then compress. This Zipper changes all that. You drop your files onto the icon. The icon bounces once (twice if it's a big file) and that's it. Job done.

Because The Zipper is written for convenience and speed, the archive is given the same location and name as the compressed file but with the appropriate extension. If the archive already exists, it is overwritten.

The compression formats that work best have been determined to be tar and bzip2 for directories or multiple files, and gzip for single files. The Zipper will use these by default. Otherwise hold shift during launch to use the zip format.
