Inconspicuous and no-frills OS X task management and synchronizing utility that helps you to concomitantly keep track of your to-dos on multiple devices. #Task manager #Todo tracker #Delegate task #Task #Todo #Delegate
The low-key and intuitive SpeedTask task management OS X application aims to be the solution to all your task tracking and assignment delegation problems.
Because of its built-in synchronization feature, SpeedTask can be used on multiple devices at once, a fact that makes it a valuable asset in a collaboration environment where delegating tasks and assignments is a must.
SpeedTask comes as a status bar based utility, featuring a single window as the hub where all you to-dos and tasks are entered and managed. In order to enter a new to-do you can use the bottom input field and click the OK button once you’re done describing the task, or drag and drop a text selection onto SpeedTask’s icon for simple and speedy addition.
If you also install it on your iOS device, SpeedTask can act as an on the go task management tool, designed to help you stay on top of your duties even when you’re out of the office.
What’s more each of the tasks you add to its database can be configured to launch a customizable alert (even when you’re using on your iOS device). Also, to make sure that you’re always in the know, you can also set SpeedTask to automatically start on login so that your assignments are under constant monitoring.
The tasks you track using SpeedTask can have three different levels of importance, thus providing you with a no-frills and straightforward way to organize them by priority.
On the downside, SpeedTask seems to have a number of problems synchronizing tasks between devices. For instance, when syncing tasks it will randomly duplicate some of them without any explanation for this behavior.
For the time being, SpeedTask does not provide you with a way to create recurring tasks, a feature that will greatly simplify managing tasks that repeat themselves from time to time without having to remember that you have to enter them again.
To sum it all up, SpeedTask proved to be a useful and quite helpful utility when dealing with tasks locally, but, when installing it on multiple devices and synchronizing the job list, it wasn’t quite up to par. You can however give it a spin of your own to see if it is the right tool for your needs.
