Show All Files is free and simple OS X utility that enables you to hide or reveal files or folders without using Terminal commands.

The next step is to select one of the two available buttons: Make Loaded Files / Folders Invisible or Make Loaded Files / Folders Visible. In the More Tools window you can choose to quickly rebuild the Spotlight index for the currently selected volume.
To assign a volume, drag and drop it on top of the Rebuild Now button. This option is very useful if you want to make sure all changes have been indexed.
