SABnzbd comes with a web-based user interface, an API for third-party applications and support for NZB files and RSS feeds. SABnzbd is designed to run in the background and you can use it to streamline your work with files from Usenet.
Usenet is a worldwide distributed Internet discussion system that enables its users to read and post messages to one or more categories, called newsgroups.
Usenet might be considered as a hybrid between email and web forums, where discussions are threaded and posts are stored on the server sequentially.
Check the addons list and use them to improve your workflow
SABnzbd works with NZB files, which are similar to .torrent files that can be acquired from a wide variety of usenet indexing services. SABnzbd’s advanced automation functions allow you to configure the app just the way you want it and you’ll only have to send it NZBs in order for the files to appear at the other end.
Thanks to the fully-featured API, you can use various browser plugins such as nzbdStatus and SABConnect to effortlessly handle the transfers of NZBs from the web to SABnzbd and check your queue’s progress. If you are new to Usenet and SABnzbd you can get support and find handy addons on SABnzbd’s home page.
Unobtrusive and low-key newsreader for daily use
On top of that, SABnzbd you can install SABnzbd on a lowly server and make it work continuously for you. Consequently, you can schedule your downloads and access SABnzbd remotely just as easily as it can be accessed locally.
By accessing SABnzbd’s status bar icon you can check its status, view the queue and history list, limit the speed and pause your transfers. At the same time, from the web interface you can easily configure SABnzbd, add NZB files and check your queue list.
