The Pomodoro time management technique is designed to help users focus better on the task at hand by alternating working periods with short brakes to avoid unnecessary fatigue. The Pomodoro macOS app helps you put this principle into practice.

Upon launch, Pomodoro places a dark theme menu icon in your status bar that provides quick access to the app’s main panel. Here you get to quickly activate a new timer and monitor the time passing.

If a pomodoro timer is activated, the Pomodoro app displays the counter in your status bar, so you can check how much time is left for the current working session at a glance. The same rule applies for the break timers.

The Pomodoro app uses by default the standard time periods indicated by the Pomodoro technique: 25 minutes for the working sessions, 5 minutes for the short brakes, and 15 minutes for the long relaxation intervals.

However, via the Pomodoro Preferences window you can easily adjust these values, going up to 60 minutes in each case. The utility also enables you to reset the current timer and keeps track of how many pomodoros you have completed (you can see the counter in the app’s main panel.)

The Pomodoro app provides all the elementary functions one would expect from a time management app: you get to alternate working sessions with small or long brakes, you can monitor the passing of the time via a simple status bar timer, and you receive alerts when a counter runs out.

Since Pomodoro is using a dark theme for the app’s menulet, even if the app resides in the status bar it will not attract your attention unnecessarily.
