Owly for Mac
Owly is a handy and very easy-to-use Mac OS X application that helps you stop your Mac from sleeping.
Keeps your Mac awake and prevents the screen from dimming
In other words, Owly stops the screensaver from starting, disables the dim display feature and prevents your Mac from going into the sleep mode.
Owly proves its utility when watching videos with media players that are not capable to perform the above mentioned actions on their own or when you want to track the status of various apps without moving the mouse or touching the keyboard.
User-definable hot key help you enable Owly with a keystroke
The discreet and user-friendly app lives in your Mac’s status bar from where you can access its menu and check the countdown timer. Moreover, you have the option to enable Owly for 5, 10, 15 and 30 minutes or even for longer periods of time such as 1, 2 or 5 hours.
Owly enables you to activate it for “Eternity” using a user-definable hotkey that can be assigned via the Preferences window. On top of that, you have the option to set the default sleep prevention timer and hide or show the Dock icon.
Easy-to-read countdown timer
Once enabled, Owly displays a countdown timer next to its status bar icon in order to make it easier for you to know for how long your Mac will stay awake. Naturally, you can toggle the countdown timer and configure Owly to automatically start at login.
Owly’s menu bar icon turns red when the app is active, fact that makes it easy for you to know when Owly is no longer enabled. MacBook users will be happy to know that Owly can be configured to allow your Mac to sleep if the battery level is under a given percentage.
