NoteAway is a minimalist status bar menu application that allows you to take notes via the status bar, without interrupting your workflow. What’s more, the app can sync the database to the cloud in order to make it accessible on all your devices.

Via the NoteAway status bar menulet you get to quickly activate the app’s panel where you can quickly input new notes. When you start writing the text formatting bar becomes automatically visible and you can change the font type, style, size, color, alignment, and so on.

All your entires will be displayed in list mode in the bottom area of the panel, and you can find a specific entry by using the built in search tool. Even though the panel autohides by default, you get to make it stay visible as long as you like.

NoteAway allows you to move the position of the popup panel, can remember the new location between sessions, and allows you to make it visible via a hotkey. As a result, you will be able to take notes anytime you like, without having to stop what you were doing.

By default, NoteAway stores your notes database locally, but in the Preferences window you can choose to move it in your iCloud account, or to a custom remote location, such as your Dropox account.

Other customization options include the possibility to change the app’s appearance, to sort your entries by different criteria, to adjust the library backup frequency and so on.
