MacTheRipper is a specialized utility that comes with quite a hefty set of tools designed to allow you to backup your DVDs to your Mac's hard drive (or a portable storage solution).

The MacTheRipper app can also help you to remove Macrovision protection and CSS encryption, as well as set the disc to be region-free and remove the RCE region protection, if needed.

What's more, MacTheRipper has also been designed to allow you to get rid of User Operation Prohibitions (UOPs) single–handedly, thus making sure that you won't have to sit through any more previews, intros or FBI warnings before playing the actual content on your DVDs.

MacTheRipper helps you load a DVD and choose the disc's new region, to remove the various enabled limitations, as well as select which type of extraction method you want to use.

There are several extraction methods you can choose from, namely full, main feature, title set, title only or title - chapter. You should also note that depending on your choice you will have more or less content available in the resulting backup.

For example, if you want to have all the disc's content at your disposal for burning or storing onto other media, you should choose the full extraction option.

If, on the other hand, you want less content available, everything but the extract content or a given number of titles, you should pick one of the other options that let you slim down the output file.
