Microsoft has released a new Surface computer and, if you want to make the switch from a Mac, you can do so while still having access to your favorite data libraries.
Mac to Surface Assistant is a streamlined solution that enables you to compress folders into the same ZIP archive so you can transfer the files between computers faster.
The Mac to Surface Assistant preserves the design of any assistant tool and gradually introduces you to the task you want to perform: the ultimate goal is to move media such as photos, music, or movies, as well as any other type of document to the new device.
Mac to Surface Assistant will scan your user folder for directories and quickly displays a list in its main interface. Your job is to check the box associated with the folders you want to move to the Surface computer.
For your convenience, Mac to Surface Assistant will list subfolders and the included files, but it provides check boxes only for the main directories. Mac to Surface Assistant will automatically calculate the total size of the files that are to be transferred, before compression.
The next step is to select the output location for the Mac to Surface Assistant Data archive. You can choose to send it to the Desktop folder or any other volume connected to your Mac. In each case, you will be able to see how much space is available on the drive.
When the compression process is complete, Mac to Surface Assistant will let you know if some of the files have been renamed or skipped: you can see the list in the app’s main panel. The same info is available in the log file generated by default.
Bottom line, Mac to Surface Assistant proposes a simple solution for moving your files from your Mac to your new Microsoft Surface computer with ease. Of course, you can also perform this action by going through the macOS contextual menu and selecting the “Compress Items” option.
