A free and fault tolerant network distributed file system with its base function to spread data over several physical commodity servers. #Storage system #Distribute data #Data distributor #Storage #Distributor #Distribution
MFS (Moose File System) is a proven foundation of highly reliable storage systems. The file system designed for petabyte class clusters crunching mission critical data 24/7.
Also, MFS is a networking, distributed file system. It spreads data over several physical localizations (servers), which are visible to a user as one resource. MFS acts as other Unix-alike file systems for standard file operations.
MFS has hierarchical structure (directory tree), stores file attributes(permissions, last access and modification times) and makes it possible to create special files (block and character devices, pipes and sockets), symbolic links (file names pointing to other files accessible locally, not necessarily on MFS) and hard links (different names of files which refer to the same data on MFS).
What's new in MooseFS 3.0.80:
- (master) fixed chunk loop (in some cases chunks from the last hash position might be left unchecked)
- (master) fixed storage class management (fixed has_***_labels fields)
