JohnnyBoy's Resume! is an unsophisticated OS X resume builder designed to help you create well-organized CVs with minimal effort. The resume data is inserted via a couple of simple tabs while the final form of the document is determined by the built-in template you want to use.
The JohnnyBoy's Resume! projects can retain details about your work experience, education, skills, and references. Naturally, you also get to provide your contact info and a small description of your professional goals.
Worth mentioning is that JohnnyBoy's Resume! is using the Command+V hotkey, which is customarily assigned to pasting elements system wide, to preview the document, so you cannot use it to paste data from third party apps. However, you can workaround this limitation by using the Paste option via the contextual menu.
What’s more, JohnnyBoy's Resume! comes with a resumes manager which means that you can create different CVs suitable for different types of positions. However, you can start working on a new resume only if you restart the application.
After you filled in all the required information, JohnnyBoy's Resume! allows you to quickly preview the CV in a separate window. The same area allows you to apply different design styles to your CV, ranging from simple to black and white, colorful, or comic, depending on the target audience.
Noteworthy is that JohnnyBoy's Resume! includes only a “Print” button that allows you to send the CV directly to the printer. On the other hand, if you need the document in digital format, you can use the Finder capabilities to export it to a PDF file.
To conclude, even though using the app means that you must work around some issues, JohnnyBoy's Resume! proves to be quite useful if you need to quickly generate well organized resumes and apply to different types of positions.
What's new in JohnnyBoy's Resume! 1.4 Build 5:
- Instead of having 4 text fields for street address, zipcode, city & country, now there is only one textfield holding the address. The reason for that is that you can format your address the way you like.
