Manually writing the path to a specific file or folder can prove to be time consuming: Get File Path is a minimalist Mac utility that can take care of the task in no time. Simply drag and drop the file or folder on top of the Get File Path icon or main window, and the app will automatically place the path on your pasteboard.
Working with the Get File Path is extremely intuitive, but you can also customize its behavior via the app’s main window.
Note that if you do not choose to quit the app automatically after the extraction process is over, you will also be able to view and edit the output via the Get File Path “Result” text box. This is extremely useful if you need to further process the data before integrating it within your projects.
Right off the bat, you get to adjust the path pattern by using symbols for the file name, the file path, or for the parent path. At the same time, you can quickly insert certain elements within the path: characters, tags, and so on.
You can choose to have the aliases automatically resolved, to use UNIX paths instead of Mac paths, or to replace blank spaces by %20.
Get File Path is a great tool to have around if you need to extract the exact path to a certain file or folder without having to perform the action manually. Since you can apply various patterns and insert text strings, Get File Path can prove useful for a whole range of tasks.
What's new in Get File Path 8.1:
- A full recompilation has been made to be compatible with High Sierra, and as Universal Binary to keep being compatible with both old (PowerPC) Macs and recent (Intel) Macs.
- The "How to intall it?" paragraph of the documentation has been updated to explain how to install and launch the Application in particular under Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra:
- Under Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra, if you're launching the Application for the first time, Mac OS' GateKeeper (which you can configure in the "System Preferences") will refuse to launch it because you've not downloaded it from the Mac App Store (but from our website). In this case, instead of double-clicking on it, all you have to do is to right-click on the Application's icon, and then select the "Open" menu. A message will appear in which you'll be able to confirm that you want to launch the Application (even if it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store from an Identified Developper).
