GNU Ocrad reads a bitmap image in pbm or pgm formats and produces text in byte (8-bit) or UTF-8 formats.
Ocrad includes a layout analyzer able to separate the blocks or columns of text normally found on printed pages.
Also, Ocrad can be used as a stand-alone console application, or as a backend to other programs.
