FileSalvage is a trustworthy and intuitive Mac OS X application that makes it easy for you to recover accidentally deleted or corrupt files from any given volume or drive.

With FileSalvage’s help you can recover lost data, iTunes and iPhoto libraries from re-initialized or formatted drives with just a couple of mouse clicks.

FileSalvage is device and file system independent and, as a result you can use it to recover data from Mac, Windows and Linux disks, CDs and DVDs, USB drives, memory cards, iOS devices and other media storages and file systems recognizable by Mac OS X.

It is worth mentioning that FileSalvage is not capable to restore lost data that have been overwritten by new data. On the bright side, FileSalvage is designed to recover over 100 different file types, that include RAW camera files, various audio and video files as well.

In order to recover data from any given disk you need to provide a secondary storage unit for the restored data. In other words, you are not allowed to save the recovered files on the same disk.

From FileSalvage’s main window you can easily select the disk you want to scan for lost data and choose between different scanning modes. As follows, you can search the entire disk or only the free space for deleted files, and change from “block by block” to “byte by byte” scanning method for better results.

The right side panel helps you view a list with all recovered files, which are organized into multiple groups based on their file format. Before restoring any of the found items, you can preview them within the app and view detailed information about the selected file.
