Extended MacBook/MacBook Pro Fan Control is an easy to use Mac OS X System Preferences pane that monitors your MacBook’s fan speeds, and enables you to adjust their values by taking into account the sensors temperature, and other user defined parameters.

Even through the Extended MacBook/MacBook Pro Fan Control preferences pane installs on more recent OS X releases, including Yosemite, the utility is designed to be used on MacBooks running on Mac OS X 10.4 or OS X 10.5 .

The Extended MacBook/MacBook Pro Fan Control software archive includes the app’s source code, but also provides an installer package that deals with the installation process: simply follow the on-screen instructions and provide the administrator password.

The Extended MacBook/MacBook Pro Fan Control pane will seamlessly integrate into your System Preferences, and you will be able to see the current CPUs and GPUs temperatures, and a graph that illustrates the fans speed versus the current temperature.

At the same time, within the Extended MacBook/MacBook Pro Fan Control panel, by using slider bars, you can easily adjust the lower and upper temperature threshold, or the slowest accepted fan speed (for both the left, and the right side fans).

You can choose to see the temperature expressed in either Celsius, or Fahrenheit degrees, and you can choose the temperature sensor that should be used to control the fans: the CPU for both fans, the CPU for the left fan, and the GPU for the right sided fan, or the GPU sensor for both.

The Extended MacBook/MacBook Pro Fan Control preferences pane proves to be very easy to use, and can be useful if your MacBook heats up too fast. However, since the utility changes the Mac default thermal behavior, you should be extra careful when adjusting the parameters.
