Yoink is a minimalist macOS utility that streamlines your workflow in such a manner that you will wonder why doesn’t it come with the system by default.
The app places a small window that can hold either files or app content at the edge of the screen while you navigate to the drag and drop output location.
This way, you can seamlessly drag items to the Yoink window, continue navigating to the destination without worrying about not releasing your mouse, and complete the process in a more relaxed manner.
The Yoink application makes its presence known only when you start a drag and drop process: the app’s transparent window will become visible on the left side of your Mac’s screen, right on the edge.
All you have to do is drag and drop your items into the Yoink window, and then continue navigating. The best part is that you can drag multiple files, and work with more than one drags at the same time, which means that you do not have to go back and forth anymore.
Via the Yoink status bar menu, you get to modify the default position of the app’s window: on the left or on the right edge, in the top, center, or bottom area.
Moreover, you get to choose the window size: default (can hold up to 3 items), biggest, or smallest. You can also decide to have the window automatically adjusted.
Other customization options are included in the Yoink Preferences window and are related to the app’s behavior. The Yoink window can be revealed whenever a drag starts when the mouse is placed at the end of the screen, or if you press a hotkey.
Moreover, you can have the window automatically moved to the mouse position when a drag starts. Last but not least, Yoink offers you the option to create a list of ignored apps that will not trigger the app’s window.
